Job Description

R&D Lab Supervisor

Responsible for all functions in an RF R&D lab.

1. Manage and coordinate lab activities in support of product development testing, DVT and Characterization

  • Coordinate test system schedules to monitor utilization and additional needs
  • Consult with project team leads to accommodate staff and test system resource needs
  • Determine short-term and long-term lab needs to support new product development
  • Provide technical assistance to engineers and technicians when needed

2. Administrative management and leadership of lab Technicians

  • Organize monthly R&D lab staff meetings with local and remote members and lab managers from other sites
  • Evaluate resumes, and interview technician, and some engineer candidates.
  • Train and mentor lab technicians on the proper use of test equipment, test systems and construction of test systems

3. Planning, active management, and maintenance of lab facilities, equipment, and supplies

  • Manage automated test systems, RF component inventory, and calibration schedules
  • Track all test equipment in Gagepack for traceability, repairs, and calibrations
  • Participate in the definition and implementation of corporate ESD policies
  • Ensure compliance with quality regulations and participate in the ISO9001/IATF-16949 audits
  • Order and maintain sufficient stock of lab supplies
  • Capital equipment planning, management, and purchasing
  • Plan and execute R&D lab expansion activities
  • Install automation software patches and firmware updates
  • Setup and reconfigure test benches for project specific needs

Job Requirements:

  • Candidate must possess a BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics and/or 2 years experience working as an RF Lab Supervisor/Manager with RF test and measurement experience
    • RF spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, multimeters, power meters, RF amplifiers, power supplies, probe stations, and RF sources is required.
    • Understanding of RF component characteristics, performance advantages, and trade-offs.
  • Understanding of basic RF measurement equipment; component/system level troubleshooting and repair
  • Familiarity with semiconductor assembly, soldering and equipment
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ensure lab processes are optimized, efficient and have a continuous improvement mindset
  • Critical thinker with a focus on process improvement

Software Knowledge:

  • MS Windows Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Test equipment communication schemes and utilization (PXI, VISA, SCPI, GPIB, etc.)

Preferred:

  • Hands-on experience building test systems, S-Parameter measurements and RF system calibration methodologies (Scalar/Vector Error Correction).
  • Experience with cellular handset signals and measurements (2G/3G/4G/5G).
  • Working knowledge of MS Visio, Autodesk AutoCAD and C/C++
