SUMMARY

Under general supervision, plans, organizes and presents training opportunities for MPS business and technology software applications and provides customer service for users.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Designs and develops training opportunities to train end-users on business processes and technical information systems via distance, blended, and interactive multimedia learning opportunities.
  • Compiles and analyzes data on training needs and develops appropriate training materials which varies in the delivery format (including but not limited to written instructions, interactive online training, and videos).
  • Utilizes appropriate training techniques, adult learning concepts and facilitation skills including industry standards such as ADDIE, Quality Matters and SAMR model.
  • Writes clear and concise content that is used across multiple platforms for staff development and training.
  • Works independently, and makes appropriate decisions based on experience; performs work within scope of authority and training; duties may vary according to job assignment.
  • Utilizes UX principles to maintain and update MPS training platforms.
  • Serves as subject matter expert and functional lead operator on assigned software applications; provides primary technical support for specialized software applications; identifies, defines and resolves operational problems; answers user questions on access, security, and processes.
  • Evaluates, troubleshoots, and resolves technology related problems for users; provides technical training and resolves customer service issues through digital means.
  • Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with students, clients, visitors, and MPS staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment
  • Enthusiastically promotes the Superintendent s goals and priorities in compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • Maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, records, and MPS information.
  • Other duties or tasks may be assigned on an as-needed basis
  • At times may be required to work outside normal business hours and work extended hours to accomplish requirements of the position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Training and Experience Guidelines

Bachelor s Degree in Information Technology, Instructional Design, Marketing, Communication, Digital Media/Multimedia Video Production, or a closely related field; AND two (2) years of experience in training or adult learning programs; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by Human Resources.

Knowledge of:
  • Training theories and practices including the development of learning targets, digital learning opportunities, and lesson plans.
  • Principles of curriculum development, technical training, and adult learning theory in a digital environment.
  • Instructional design and training methods used to develop and present training programs through digital means including online learning, multimedia products with interactive learning opportunities.
  • Principles of adult learning, classroom supervision and managing group dynamics.
  • Learning transfer strategies, methods and techniques to facilitate performance improvement.
  • The structure and operating capabilities of multiple network operating systems.
  • Software applications and operating systems used at MPS, including Microsoft OS and MAC OS.
  • Principles and protocols for the management of MPS electronic information.
  • IT access policies, and data security protocols.

Skill in:

  • Working independently in a technical environment with interlinked and changing priorities.
  • Planning, organizing, scheduling and conducting training courses using online learning principles, interactive digital learning opportunities and multimedia formats.
  • Developing training programs, and effectively presenting information in an online and blended environment.
  • Presenting information to a diverse audience.
  • Responding professionally, effectively and efficiently to customer service requests.
  • Operating a personal computer utilizing specialized software and entering information into a computer system with speed and accuracy.
  • Assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with co-workers and clients.
  • Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

A valid Minnesota State Commercial Driver s License may be required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in a standard office environment which requires occasionally lifting such articles as file boxes or heavier materials with help from others and/or lifting and carrying light objects frequently. A job in this category may require walking or standing to a significant degree or may involve sitting most of the time with long periods of computer work and heavy phone usage.

Final candidates may be invited to interview with a committee. Final appointment to this position will be contingent upon passing a criminal background check.
