The Supervisory Social Worker duties and responsibilities are carried throughout the Long Beach VA HealthCare System, Orange County including all clinical and other patient care areas involved with the services for HUD/VASH Orange County and include but not limited to the following:
Initiating or assisting in Service planning, establishing, and implementing policies, procedures, or guidelines. Providing continuous monitoring, competency review, evaluation, coordination, oversight and education to social work staff of the assigned program or section and or clinical consultation to social workers in the 0185 series decentralized to healthcare groups and their healthcare group supervisors. Conducting ongoing intensive reviews and evaluation to ensure the accomplishment of Service, VA and program or committee objectives and adhere to standards set by governing bodies. Initiating and conducting variety of VA, Program or Service audits and complete designated clinical practice audits and reports, this includes productivity, appointment management, clinical practice documentation. Initiating and providing employee performance evaluation(s), competency review(s); includes assessment, evaluation, education, feedback related to performance improvement, achievement and staff and patient safety. Conducting program analysis, development, review, research, benchmarking and system redesign at any level; Monitor employee labor mapping to assure accuracy; reviews employee productivity through VISTA ACRP and Event Capture; reviews and monitors compliance of the appointment management system for employees. United States Citizenship:
Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Education. Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the school of social work is fully accredited. Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level. //vaww.va.gov/OHRM/T38Hybrid/. Individuals assigned as supervisory social workers must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level and must be able to provide supervision for licensure. Physical Requirements. VA Directive and Handbook 5019 states that applicants must complete a pre-employment physical with the possibility of a drug screen. English Language Proficiency. Grade Determinations:
In addition to the basic requirements applicants must also meet any additional requirements for the grade they are applying. GS-13 Supervisory Social Worker Experience/Education. One year of experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills in specialty area or in administration demonstrating progressively more professional competency and judgement. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills and Abilities. In addition to experience above, candidates must demonstrate all of the following KSAs:
Ability to independently organize work, set priorities, and meet multiple deadlines. Skill in a range of supervisory duties which includes clinical supervision, consultation, negotiation with other departments and quality improvement. Ability to ensure provision of clinical social work services by supervised social workers. Ability to delegate authority, manage priorities, coordinate work, and follow up on pending issues to complete duties in an accurate and timely fashion. Ability to analyze organizational and operational problems, develop and implement solutions that result in efficient operations, and use data effectively to manage workload, quality, performance, and productivity within the service. Must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical involving light lifting (under 15 lbs) and Light carrying (under 15 pounds), Walking (2-4 hours), Operation of motor vehicle, Both eyes required (20/40 vision in each eye), Ability to distinguish basic colors and shades of colors, Hearing (aid permitted), Ability to fuel vehicles. In compliance with VHA Directive 1192, annual influenza vaccination will be required for all Veterans Health Administration Employees. The vaccination will be provided by or proof of the vaccination must be provided to the VA Facility's Occupational (Employee) Health Office on an annual basis.
