Job
Summary:
As a High Tech Product Safety Engineer, you will work on challenging projects and provide a high-quality certification service to meet the clients' needs.
This means you will have the ability to interpret standards, follow processes and procedures as well as provide technical guidance; analysis, execute plans for product testing, and ensure compliance.
Responsibilities:
oIndependently manages certification projects concurrently ensuring compliance with all applicable safety requirements achieving completion within time frames and deadlines.
Evaluates products against requirements of the national/international standards and guidelines.
oHandles a wide spectrum of projects including those that are complex generating high revenue levels.
oDemonstrates the ability to accurately manage projects within the agreed budget.
oAble to maintain good productivity in line with company expectations.
oDemonstrates technical competence to review the work of others per divisional quality documents (DQD).
oDemonstrates technical competence to perform witness testing per divisional quality documents (DQD).
oReviews test data/reports and authorize the application of the CSA Mark.
Prepares and/or signs Certification Reports and Certificates.
oKeeps the Manager informed of project status as required, pointing out major problems and findings.
oPerforms other duties as assigned by the Manager.
oAudit, evaluate, and qualifies customers under various Certification Programs (National and international).
oExposure to NRTL and CB scheme Audits.
oKnowledge of ISO 17025 and ISO 17065.
oKnowledge of North American and CB scheme certification.
oPerforms within the established procedure and work instructions.
oMakes field trips and witnesses test work at manufacturer's facilities as required.
oHas knowledge of the 60950, 60065, and 62368 series national and international standards.
oDemonstrates the ability to compile evaluation records, checklists, test data packs, etc without the need for supervision.
oDemonstrates the ability to correctly interpret the results from the tests with only minimal guidance and supervision.
oParticipates in CSA Group Continuous Improvement and Innovation projects.
oMakes recommendations on new programs/equipment to expand core capabilities.
oGenerates ideas to improve laboratory safety.
oRecommends revisions to ensure technical consistency to resolve issues of pertinent practices, processes, and precedents.
oWorks with sales to support current clients and develop new client opportunities to support growth.
oPrepares project quotations, classifies products by use, environment, and function.
Determines applicable requirements / test / standards.
Determines sample requirements and method/location for testing/evaluation best suited to customers' needs.
oProvides client feedback to Managers or Sales representatives, as appropriate.
oExplains the different product certification programs available to clients.
Education and
Experience:
oBachelor's degree in Engineering (Preferably Electrical) with 2-5 years of product compliance and certification experience.
oKnowledge of test equipment, test setups, and general laboratory procedures.
o2-3 years of evaluation and testing experience in 60950, 60065, and 62368 series national and international standards.
Skills:
oHigh level of interpersonal and communication skills; customer service skills, strong problem-solving ability; detail-oriented.
oStrong organizational, time, and project management skills to complete job tasks independently and in a time-efficient manner.
oAbility to work unsupervised, in a team-based work environment.
oAble to read and interpret technical documentation and create technical reports.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
