The Principal Engineer will be part of our innovative Advanced Manufacturing Group (AMG).
Edward's AMG is responsible for the design and development of Transcatheter Heart Valves (THV) next-generation manufacturing equipment including thermoforming, machining, extrusions, additive manufacturing, surface treatments, vision-system-guided automation and plastic part joining technologies.
It's a highly visible role, leading complex automation engineering projects in partnership with product-design teams! Essential job functions:
Owns and leads the design, drawings, BOM, standard work and validation of the completed systems of automated equipment build.
Provide expert advice on risk mitigation strategies and provide solutions on automated equipment system applications.
Lead and establish complex project plans including budget, timelines, and resource planning to ensure deliverables are completed to internal and external customer's expectations.
Provide solutions, training, and recommendations for the support of automation initiatives across the organization.
Provide applications & technical leadership and guidance in automation strategy and project execution of systems.
Act as a technical liaison.
Support the transfer of projects to manufacturing networks as needed (i.
e.
, Utah, Ireland, Singapore, etc).
Train, develop, and mentor junior engineers and technicians to use good engineering design practices.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering and scientific with 6 years of experience in a manufacturing or design setting developing and/or implementing new technologies for manufacturing plants.
Experience with SolidWorks or Creo Parametric CAD solid modeling software.
Experience within a highly regulated environment manufacturing setting.
Ability to solve complex problems and complete multiple projects, uses advanced problem-solving methods to make decisions.
15% domestic and international travel.
Preferred
Qualifications:
Advanced degree or related certifications.
Experience with designing, building, modification and troubleshooting automated medical device systems.
Significant Experience in Complex/High Level Automated Equipment Design.
Strong PLC (Allen Bradley and others)/ PC programming languages experience (C++, Python).
Excellent communication skills are essential, including the ability to understand the customer's needs and provide clear communication of proposed solutions to both Edwards management and your internal customer.
Ability to train maintenance teams in different regions to troubleshoot and solve equipment issues.
Proven expertise in both Microsoft Office Suite and related systems.
