Position Description:
The Applications Engineer will be responsible for providing expert level technical support for the Business Development Department within FMH. The successful candidate will be in charge of the initial design and proposal activities for all FMH product lines which are selected to meet a program's needs. He/she will review material specifications, statement of works, compliance / testing matrices and select products that meet customer needs and budgets. He/she will compose and make detailed presentations to customers and their management team to condition them towards the purchase and use of FMH technology over the competition. Position Requirements:
oAssist the RSMs and the BD Director in developing strategies to increase sales revenue, to include formation and execution of specific programs. oAssist both the Director of Business Development and RSMs in lead qualification, account strategy, proposal preparation and subsequent proposal follow up with the customer. oAct as a technical liaison between PDT Engineering and the customer during the pre-proposal, proposal and contract hand-off phases. oAnalyze general terms and conditions, scope of work statements, delivery requirements complex engineering blueprints and specifications to determine degree and extent of organizational involvement. Conduct comprehensive analyses and necessary research to isolate cost elements. oSecure Engineering estimates and design drawings and collaborates with Manufacturing Engineering, Production and Quality Control departments in the development of general tooling, manufacturing and Quality Control philosophies. oExtend basic manufacturing parameters and develops complete cost estimates; determine manufacturing sequences and time spans where little or no precedent exists. Participate in making or buying decisions and coordinate outside fabrication and vendor service requirements with Purchasing Department. oThe FMH AE will identify potential areas for process improvements and will lead, or participate in, assigned internal project teams to review, assess, measure and implement effective countermeasures oParticipate in the weekly BD status call with the RSMs and in the semiannual bookings forecast reviews. oTravel with RSMs to customer sites for sales and program meetings. Experience:
oBachelor's degree or relevant experience oThe Applications engineer should be familiar with aerospace/military standards and have a working experience with 3D modeling software, such as Solidworks. oHe/she must be able to work effectively in a team environment with other FMH engineers and program managers, have advanced problem-solving abilities and work independently with minimal supervision as a team member oRequires strong interpersonal communications (written and verbal) with a positive attitude and ability to motivate others. oAbility to prioritize workload and complete tasks in a timely manner and on schedule. oAbility to communicate in a clear, polite and courteous manner. oRequires a high level of accuracy and attention to detail with ability to organize and maintain proprietary files and records. oAbility to maintain flexibility and adaptability to deal with changing conditions and requirements. oRequires ability to effectively read and interpret documentation, i.e., drawings, specifications, contracts, agreements, government notices, company operating procedures, etc. oKnowledge of lean manufacturing principles
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
Sales EngineeringEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
