Engineer II, EH&S - Environmental Programs

This position will have the exciting opportunity to collaborate and implement EHS operational strategies and process improvements with a focus on environmental programs for Edwards Lifesciences Irvine Campus location.
Essential job functions:
Evaluate environmental needs with focus on any of the following: air permitting, storm water, wastewater solutions, hazardous waste management and other environmental programs; propose options and implementation plans.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement processes to ensure compliance with EHS goals and programs.
Provide EHS expertise for new processes, new products, and technologies and participate in the change control process of the site.
Research, analyze, and evaluate data to create routine reports (e.g., data collection) in response to internal requests.
Investigate cause for EHS incidents from employees and deviations from compliance and recommend sound corrective and preventive measures to avoid recurrence and provide feedback to relevant stakeholders.
Develop and revise EHS training and written programs to ensure compliance with all applicable EHS regulations; may deliver training as necessary.
Conduct periodic internal inspections and audit at the site to ensure continuous compliance with applicable regulations; and provide guidance to appropriate team members.
Act as liaison with government agencies for EHS managers as assigned by Manager.
Other duties as assigned by management; participate in emergency response activities.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Education/Skills/
Experience:
Must have prior experience with analyzing, reviewing and implementing the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) requirements.
Bachelor's Degree minimum of 2 years OR Master's Degree internship, senior projects, or thesis in Engineering, Scientific, or EHS related including either industry or industry/education required.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP), preferred.
Good computer skills in usage of MS Office Suite.
Ability to read and interpret drawings.
Good documentation, communication and interpersonal relationship skills including negotiating and relationship management skills.
Solid understanding and knowledge of EPA, OSHA, local and federal regulations.
Solid problem-solving, organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills.
Solid understanding of processes and equipment used in assigned work.
Knowledge of and adherence to Edwards Environmental Health and Safety and Quality.
Strict attention to detail.
Ability to interact professionally with all organizational levels.
Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast paced environment.
Ability to work in a team environment, including the ability to manage vendors and project stakeholders.
Ability to build productive internal/external working relationships.
