The Manager of Legal Services role is multifaceted and involves addressing various legal issues including but not limited to business formation and structure, contracts and agreements, intellectual property, employment law, real estate transactions, regulatory compliance, and litigation management.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS Minimum of 4 years of legal experience, preferably in Senior Living or Healthcare sectors.
Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (in English), both verbally and in writing.
Must have strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to work cross-functionally with various departments.
Must possess strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Satisfactorily pass Sunshine's criminal record clearance.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Coordinate Communications:
Act as the primary point of contact for all communications with external lawyers and Third-Party Administrators (TPAs).
Data Gathering for Discovery:
Collaborate with all departments to gather internal data required for legal discovery processes.
Strategic Planning:
Develop and implement legal strategies for Sunshine Retirement Living, with a focus on not settling cases unless absolutely necessary.
Evaluate Attorney Performance:
Critically assess the evaluations provided by external Attorneys to ensure they align with company objectives.
Document Maintenance:
Keep an updated Excel file to track all legal cases, statuses, and associated costs.
Billing Oversight:
Review and approve all legal billing to ensure accuracy and compliance with budget constraints.
Risk Minimization:
Review Policies & Contracts (P&Cs) to identify and minimize potential legal risks to the company.
Risk Management Committee:
Serve as an integral part of the Risk Management Committee, contributing to the development and implementation of risk mitigation strategies.
Resident Evictions:
Oversee and manage the legal aspects of resident evictions, ensuring that all actions are in compliance with state laws and company policies.
Coordinate with property managers and other relevant departments to facilitate the eviction process, while minimizing risk and financial impact to the company.
OTHER JOB DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Perform all work assigned for the agreed-upon salary, accepting no additional payment or non- perishable gifts from residents, vendors, Community management, or others.
Meet the assigned work requirements of the job.
Regular attendance is required.
Serve as a role model for all employees by displaying a responsible, cooperative, and positive attitude.
Represent the company in a professional, courteous, and friendly manner.
Adhere to dress/appearance code.
Changes in attire may be dictated by special occasion or weather conditions.
