The purpose of Global Technical Sourcing (GTS) is to accelerate innovation through suppliers to create a sustainable competitive advantage.
Technical Sourcing will engage with Consistent Processes as a GSM Project Management function to lead the Reduction of Overall Supply Risk and drive the adoption of Capable Technologies & Sources in New Product Development resulting in Predictable Supply & Competitiveness through full Product Launch.
TS is responsible for timely execution of all TS project deliverables in Product Development Process (PDP).

Product Portfolio- This position will support NPD projects within the Neurovascular Operating Unit headquartered in Irvine, CA.
The NV Operating Unit delivers meaningful innovation to advance stroke treatment.
The products being developed treat acute ischemic stroke, brain aneurysm, brain arteriovenous malformations and associated access and delivery systems for neurovascular procedures.
Project Management- Project Management and coordination of all Sourcing Project Deliverables (Component Quality, Supply Risk, Resources and Performance, Cost, Capacity, Lead-time, and Technology) in support of New Product Development and report out to stakeholders at stage gate exit.
Facilitate Early Supplier Involvement (ESI) technical reviews, effectively document agreements and risks, and drive closure of open action items.
NPD Sourcing Strategy - Overall Supply Risk Mitigation:
TS will track and manage improvements in procured component Supply Risk, Quality, Material Cost, and Response / Lead Time for the full Device procured Bill of Material, (for both new and legacy components) in NPD.
TS will periodically review Medtronic Product Plans and Technology initiatives with GSM to provide early communication to Category Management and Operations Sourcing for Supplier Identification & Capability development.
In addition, TS will review and be knowledgeable of Category Strategy updates to ensure Supply Technology Roadmaps are integrated into New Product Development Programs.
Source Selection - Category Strategies:
TS is accountable for completing Source Selection with Category Teams in alignment with Category Strategies & Preferred Supplier Segmentation and identifying potential new sources in Technologies where Category Strategies do not yet exist.
Additionally, the TS will drive early Development Agreements and ensure proper Supply Agreement coverage with GSM.
Quality - Supplier DRM:
TS is responsible for monitoring overall Component Quality Levels for the Project.
This will be completed per DRM Processes in strong alignment and coordination with the Design and Supplier Quality Engineering functions.
Supplier Quality Engineering and TS will provide an early voice to influence Specification and Supplier Development.
Cost Targets & Total Cost of Ownership Model:
TS will provide front line negotiation with knowledge of Category Strategies and an ability to influence design/technology/source decisions.
This will be done with a view of Total Acquisition Cost.
The TS may periodically complete the formal price and Supply Agreement negotiations with the Supplier.
Lead time - Process and Value Stream Mapping:
TS will identify and monitor Sourcing Supply Chain lines to ensure efficient sourcing arrangements are made through the Source Selection process, (Systems view, Total Cost of Acquisition Model, Process Mapping, knowledge of Supplier's Supply Chain).
Risk - Contracting & Risk Burndown:
TS is responsible for monitoring and managing overall Component Risk Levels for the Project.
This will also include establishment of closed loop communication with Manufacturing Facilities and Operations Sourcing to ensure current Sourcing Risks are mitigated in Product Development.
Launch Readiness & Transfer to Operations:
Lead Component Sourcing Responsibility Transfers Post Qualification, (to High Volume Facilities and Operations - transition from Technical Sourcing to local Site Sourcing, and Category ManagementFunctional Development - Continuous Improvement:
The GTS function will continue to work to optimize our processes and deliverables.
In pursuit of this, team members will support Projects, Process Development and Deployments to improve the overall Functional Work of GTS.
Must Have:

The provided base salary range is used nationally (except in certain CA locations).
The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc.
