Job Purpose:
Examples of Essential Duties & Responsibilities (examples of but not limited to):
Prototype Design and Development
Preliminary design and FEA structural analysis
Material selection and process recommendation
Work with designers and engineers to develop cost effective and reliable gaseous fuel storage systems
Leading Research Engineers on development and testing of next generation fuel storage technology
Evaluation and analysis of gaseous fuel storage tank materials, designs, and processing improvements.
Continuous improvement of existing designs for new applications.
Automation of production processes to reduce variation and increase productivity

Job Duties and
Responsibilities:
This position is primarily responsible for design engineering of filament wound composite pressure vessels for use in alternative fuels for automotive applications.
Knowledge of material compatibility issues with hydrogen and natural gas.
Knowledge of Type 4 High Pressure Cylinder design and manufacturing.
Knowledge of composite materials, filament winding material properties and procedures.
Knowledge of mechanics of material as applied to pressure vessels.
Knowledge of graphite and glass composites.
Ability to apply a systematic, and logical approach to the engineering and design process.
Ability to interface with customers, engineers and manufacturing personnel.
Good verbal communication and documentation skills.
Adopt and implement the Quality Assurance Procedures-QAP and Departmental Work Instructions-DWI, identified in QEMS Employee Training Matrix located on the LAN

Education and/or
Experience:
Required: Bachelor of Science Degree in Materials Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
10 years industrial/commercial experience.
Preferred: Masters Degree or PhD preferred.

Experience:
Filament wound pressure vessel design and development
Design and development of composite pressure vessel design
CAD, FEA, structural mechanics and material micro and macro mechanics.
Methods of manufacturing composite pressure vessels.
Weight and structural optimization approaches to design.
Design considerations for automation of production processesEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
