Packaging Engineer
Role Summary
The role of the Packaging Engineer will be to strategically lead, develop, & drive the Packaging Innovation function within the Global Growth Platforms. Packaging Innovation (Packaging Development) has been recognized as a key business driver within The Joseph Company, and this role will significantly contribute to the growth of the company. The Packaging Engineer will work in a dynamic, fast paced, highly collaborative, & cross-functional environment where strategic thinking, creativity, leadership, and a self-motivated drive for excellence & results will be necessary. The incumbent will design, develop, & implement holistic innovative packaging solutions that contribute to the overall Innovation agenda of the company and its' growth platforms
Responsibilities Include (But not limited to)
? Design & Design Thinking skills
? Prototype Development: Hands on development of prototypes ranging from quick cut & paste, low resolution models to fully functional, consumer testable packages & devices
? 3D CAD Design: Experience in 3D Computer Aided Design
? Build up packing design capability; develop it to high level of beverage packaging industry.
? Integrate design activities with modelling and simulation system, optimize the packaging innovation process, and develop package innovation to be our R&D core competence
Skills and Abilities
? Must be creative, resourceful, able to think independently, be attentive to detail and highly organized
? Must exercise judgment in time management and work prioritization, along with leadership on projects
? Ability to work with Marketing and Consumer Research to understand unmet consumer needs and translate those into successful packaging designs & innovations
? Must have the ability to generate concepts, design, & develop structural packaging solutions
? Hands-on with shop and model making skills to quickly reduce ideas to testable prototypes
Education and Experience
? Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering
? Ideally, the position would require experience in Packaging Design & Development, as a plus.
? Minimum 2 years experience in Package Design in a Manufacturing Environment required
? Thorough knowledge of manufacturing processes, systems, and packaging equipment required
? Must have CAD (SolidWorks or Pro-E), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.) knowledgeEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
